About the Program

The Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is a program designed to instill leadership skills, discipline, and a sense of responsibility in high school students.

The MCJORTC was established on November 10th, 1964, by the United States Marine Corps. It was introduced as a counterpart to the existing Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) programs of the other branches of the U.S. Military. The MCJROTC was created to offer high school students an opportunity to learn about the Marine Corps and its values, fostering the development of character, citizenship, and teamwork.

The program provides a structured curriculum encompassing a wide range of subjects, including military history, leadership principles, physical fitness, and citizenship. Cadets engage in drill and ceremony exercises, physical training, and community service activities to develop discipline, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility. Throughout its history, the MCJROTC has expanded to numerous high schools across the United States, as well as some overseas locations. It aims to inspire young men and women to become responsible citizens and to develop the skill necessary for success in both military and civilian careers.
